1872 carb

I have an 1872 with a walbro carb and want to replace it with a kohler carb. Will a kohler carb from a kt17 work on the m18?

Thanks,
Earl

It's the best thing I ever did to mine. It has run like a top since I replaced the carb. Of course it took a while to get through the problems caused by the Walbro/fuel pump filling my crankcase with fuel and blowing out the seals.

1872 carb

I just read through your thread. You had some problems with that carb. I'm glad I read it before I had to go through all of that. I just picked up a 1872 last fall and it idled rough and ran rough. I thought I would just adjust the carb and smoothen it out. Well, obviously I couldn't. Once the weather breaks I'll pull it out and change out the carb. Can't wait. This is my first super and it is like driving a cadillac compared to the single cylinder kohlers that bolt right to the frame. Well, thanks for the info. I think you saved me a lot of headaches.

I agree, they work very nicely. Is your walbro an adjustable model?

No, it doesn't have any adjustments on it. I am going to go with the kohler (carter) carb. I've always had good luck with adjusting them.
