1050 viberation

Last summer while mowing, the drive shaft broke in my 1050. It destroyed the clutch disc in the process. I replaced the shaft and disc with new parts and now when I let the clutch out I have a real bad vibration. Clutch in, no vibration. Any thoughts? I'm kind of lost on this one.

Did you replace the throw out bearing as well? Did you check the shaft to make sure it is straight? Not much that would cause a vibration, other than a bent drive shaft, bad bearing or a misaligned drive disc. Just replaced the clutch in my 1050, let me know if you have any questions.

Like I said, I used new parts. I rolled the drive shaft, and it seemed straight. But, I didn't replace the throw out bearing. Probably try that. My question, could it be something in the transmission? I really like this tractor, but can't use it in the shape it is in. Thanks for the help.

Is the clutch visibly wobbling when you are experiencing the vibration?

Maybe. I can't really tell for sure as it has to be engaged for the vibration kicks in.

Maybe set the rear up on a couple of jack stands?

You can have the clutch engaged with the tractor in neutral...no need to put it on jack stands.

I know this is kind of an old thread and maybe someone will read this. I took the clutch out of my 1050 with intentions of replacing the throw out bearing and found something a little odd. Where the drive shaft couples to the transmission, the couplers are backwards to the diagram I found on one of the web sites. The half with the brass bushing is on the drive shaft. In the diagram, it is on the transmission side. I'm thinking this is my vibration. Any thoughts?:Thanks:

the coupler with the bushing should be on the input shaft of the trans. Make sure the rag joints and the ball bushing in the coupler are in good shape and not worn there should also be a ball bushing in the front too check to make sure that its not worn also. these help keep the drive shaft centered.

OK, I reversed the couplers at the transmission. When I did, the coupler with the brass bushing was real loose on the transmission shaft. Will this hurt anything or is it suppose to be a little loose. I haven't fired it up yet to see what happens because one of the safety switches was messed up a little.(the one where the pedal needs to be all the way down in order for the engine to start) And I got hot and needed to cool a while and read on here a little. Thanks for the replies.
