Is there a direct bolt in replacement for a M 18 in a 1811?

May have to make a differant drive shaft, or use the kind you got when you were here. A good choice, but would rather have the mag.

their web site says there is no repower that fits at this time you got to be kidding me :angry:

It may not be a DIRECT replacement but will go in.

I did a repower in a big box store unit the other day and had to use the oem muffler and use the stator off the blown eng to make the charging system work. Briggs has some crazy charging systems on their engs. Also in their power portal they tell you that you may have to use some of the old parts to make the new eng work.

I see you're in Illinois, you should have no trouble finding a parts tractor with a good used M18, or just a good used M18 by itself.

I just looked at the Cub parts web site and both the 682 and 1811 use the same drive flange and the same drive shaft so the re-power for the 682 should work. You will need to do some re-wiring but that is no big deal.

I like the Mag's also but when you consider that they are obsolete now, parts are getting harder to get and very expensive along with the fact that a lot of the guys do not have the mechanical experience to re-build or keep them running like you or Matt it makes sense for some of these guys to get a plug & play re-power that will give them years of good service. If they want to take the time to learn have the tools and just want to have some pride in saying they did it themselves, fine. Think about it $1500 for a complete new engine with a warranty that burns less fuel, makes as much or more power and it's easier to service. Compare adjusting the valves on a Mag 18 or a KT to a Vanguard or changing a starter. Hope this didn’t get you P.O.d

Why would you say that to each is his own. I like the vanguard, cause really, its not a briggs. Briggs owns the name. I just kinda like kohlers. I havent looked at the tourque specs but I think the mag 18 has more low end torque than the vanguard.

It sucks that the stuff is going NLA for the k and mag engs. I even asked kohler on their FB page about it, with no reply. Im going to rebuild my mag that was in pieces when you were here this winter. going to try next month to rebuild the command for Danny and get his 482 back up. Im holding out for an IH built 982 with no motor in it or blown to put a mag in it and gear drive. Ill run the hydro lift off the crank with a pump.

Now that I got all the bugs out of the 1872 I can start on the 2072. Its going to take some time to get it up and going. But Im not going to hurry it. I would also like to get that split frame at the shop with the 16 vanguard in it, but I think Ill get trumped by Frank. LOL Well he is the owner of the shop, I guess I can let him get a few!
