Iso snubber replacement
 

My 1650 had the iso mounts replaced right before I bought it. The PO did not do the cradle mod or change the smooshed snubbers. Do I have to take everything apart to replace the snubbers? What exactly is there purpose? I'm guessing there a bump stop. Im not in a position right now to be able to pull the engine.

The snubbers should be steel, if I ever replace mine I will make them out of steel.

Then I would hear when there is a problem with the ISOs'.

Every one I have seen are goo from oil contamination.

I am going to cut a block of steel 0.10" less than the cradle gap, drill and tap it 1/4x20 and just bolt it in from the top.

Oh, yea, If you don't want to do the cradle mod, keep your fingers crossed your oil pan does not end up like mine!!

That is what happens to the pan when the K341 starts makin' torque!!

My understanding of the snubber is to limit the initial shock on the iso mounts when you engage the PTO. When properly adjusted, it should not be touching the frame, but be off if it a tiny bit - I forget the distance. The snubber is rubber - like a rubber button with a male thread coming out for attachment.

The snubber is adjustable and even though yours is smashed, you might have some adjustment left to make it work for you. When you can do it, I would definitely recommend pulling the engine and doing a cradle mod, replacing your snubber, adding a super steer mod and a muffler crutch.

I am doing all of these things to my 1650.

I agree with Bill! The stubber and ISO guide is in the tech section of the site. There are shims you can take out or add to get the proper spacing.

I would think that steel would end up making a racket hitting the frame.:bigthink:
