1450 Brake rod leaking hydran

1 Attachment(s)
OK , this 1450 is starting to REALLY REALLY REALLY urk me. Now that I got the deck issue fixed, I got my charging system fixed , NOW it is seeping hytran out of the rear where the brake plunger goes in ...

I am assuming it is the O ring #4.

If this a royal PITA to replace?

Have you looked at a service manual to see the procedure? :bigthink:

Not yet. I cleaned the area off with some carb cleaner then the hose , cut some grass , and came inside and see if I have another puddle in the garage tomorrow. I'm still having some deck height issues I need to deal with and NOW it picked up some kinda funky tapping noise. Not a knock but more like someone tapping on a tin can . Really freaking bizarre. I swear this thing has more gremlins than most boats. Im gonna have to check the bolts on the oil pan to cradle. That cast pan hitting the cradle is the only thing I can come up with that would produce a hollow sound like that. So that means pulling the front axles , so I can get to the front bolts. The wife is really loving the opportunities of pulling the "told you so " card on this one.

Since it's a QL, that noise could be any of numerous pieces of sheetmetal in the engine tinwork, muffler box, or side panels rattling. Or possibly the side panel spring is hitting the top of the muffler box. Or the air cleaner nut is hammering on the side panel if the engine mounts are shot.

I have pulled the side panels, pulled the tunnel cover exposing the rear of the shaft , and opened the hood. It is more pronounced , higher RPM ,and under load. ( deck on , WOT , and moving.)

If it only does it when the deck is on, it could be the idler lever on the front - mine bounces up and down while I mow and I can hear it.

I'll check for that but it is definitely louder when I pulled the center cover off exposing the shaft. That was leading me to believe it was from the rear of the motor area back.

I need to get one of those scopes with the long probe on the end. I just hate doing anything with the blades spinning due to safety concerns.

LOL. Floor was dry tonight. So I'm not sure. It either leaked out the hydro fluid , the leak stopped or it was leaking higher in altitude. Next thing is to check around those valves on top....
