Willing to Learn

Hi, I joined OCC yesterday because I have been neglecting the 2 Cub Cadets I own. This is my 1st New Thread.A brief History, when I moved into my current home 12 years ago it sat on 1.25 acres that seemed to be up hill both ways. With no money a old farmer I knew said he had a Cub Cadet 149 that he would sell for $350 and I could work that off. I remember he told me never to get rid of it.Thus began my love for cub cadets. I have been to your forums often to help keep it going. About 5 years ago she finaly quit running so heeding the farmers wishes I parked it in the woods and went back to see him and he sold my 2160 that I currently use. But I feel bad about the 149 so I have join this forum with hopes that I can give these 2 machines some long needed care. I used the term "comfortable around engines loosely" as I have alot to learn. Thank you for allowing these humble beginnings.

As you can see by the puddle below my 2160 I am ready to use this site. Any favorites on the transmission oil once I get it to stop. OBTY this is the AGS 2160.

The AGS trans is not a hydro, it has a 6 speed trans with a forward and a reverse clutch pack. You need to be all the way down on the forward or reverse pedals or they over heat and blow oil out of the breather. Select the speed that you want to go with the shifter and just hold the pedal down all the way or you will burn the clutches out. As far as oil I'd use the Cub oil at least for the clutch section. Rotella T should be fine in the trans section. |
