CC 129 Restore

As some of you might have saw in the "Restoration Tips" thread...I have been planning on getting a 129 from a guy who's grandfather (that my parents and grandparents happen to have known for years) bought it new. :beerchug:

The grandfather is now in a nursing home, with not much time left, unfortunately. :(

So, with knowing the family that bought it new, I am going to have this thing restored...and hopefully be able to show it to the grandfather. I told the grandson, which has become a friend of mine, my plans...and he says it would bring back a lot of memories for him, and that he would love to see it looking nice again, also. :beerchug:

Today, he brought it out. After messing around with it...She's alive!! :beer2: Here's some pictures, notice the black replacement engine...

Glad you got it running, looking forward to the restoration. :beerchug:

Got it power washed! Looks a lot better... :beerchug:

Tomorrow I'm going to get the engine out, and start dissembling it. Talked to the guy painting it for me, who also knows the family really well, and will be taking everything but the engine (I will be painting it) to him next week sometime. When he is done all I will have to do is drop the engine in.

After power washing the trans and driving it around a little, got to seeing a little oil on the relief valves...In this case, do I need new valves, or new o-rings? :bigthink:

Wouldn't worry about it if I were not repainting it.

Conner Congrats on the 129! I've been looking forward to this thread since you told me about it.

Yes, your relief valves have gone sneakers up. There are 2 ebay options from a seller named "timarca."

1 - Send him your valves and they will be rebuilt like new for a price quite a bit less than buying new ones

2 - Same seller has just come out with a version of these valves that have a removable C clip, making the O-rings and other innards replaceable by the user for just a few dollars in the future.
