Deck pully keeps coming loose?

I got all of the new bearings put in my 38'' deck for my 71 and started to mow with it. After a few passes the pulley on the left hand side of the deck, non-discharge side, loosened up. I tightened it back down, but not to much because otherwise the pully won't turn and it did the same things again. It is the only one doing it and it makes no sense to me. Anyone have any ideas, I am finally going to get a chance to mow with my cub cadet for the first time in my life and all I get it setback after setback.....

What is causing the lack of clearance? Are the new bearings seated to the correct depth?

when the nut that is on top of the pulley with the grease fitting in it is tightened, to much the pulley binds up.

You did recently take this spindle apart? There is a spacer attached on the bottom of the pulley. It is prolly worn.I had to replace mine on the 48 incher.

Did you put a washer under the pulley instead of on top? Something is causing interference that wasn't an issue before.

I agree something is not right with that spindle. You're going to have to at least take the pulley off to find out why it is binding up.

underneath of my pulleys is where the bearings are there is no seal or anything. It is how the deck was so thats how I thought it was suppose to be.

Is your deck a cast iron end like mine on my 122?
