For those of us who use Valspar paint - Time to go to TSC
Wanted to put the word out....
Just got back from TSC to pick up odds & ends (including a few cans of Ford Blue for a shop cabinet project). Apparently TSC is phasing out Valspar paint. Everything in the store was 25% off, and there was a new endcap with Majic paint on it. I bought every spray can of cub cadet yellow they had, along with a few primer cans while I was at it. May have to go back and get some gallon cans & go buy a cheap HF spray gun :biggrin2: Yeah I know it isn't EXACTLY the same color (cub cadet yellow from the dealer :BlahBlah: ) but for those of us that are more concerned about using our stuff than making it "authentic", it is pretty darn close. And as a sidebar, I found the ACE rust stop school bus yellow seems to match the Valspar cub cadet yellow too (if you are in a pinch). |
I'd rather get it from a dealer and have the correct color but thanks for the heads up.

Too bad there isn't a "poke" icon...
I know I am somehow the cub cadet anti-christ because I don't have the cub cadet yellow P/N tattooed into my forearm, but when I can drive 20 minutes to get paint for ~ 35-40% less than the paint I have to drive an hour for, and I really don't mind that won't be perfect/super fade resistant/stop speeding bullets/etc, so be it. The only way I will go to the factory paint would be 1: I have something that is going to be a "show piece". None of my gear is a show piece, nor will it be. I use it, and it gets scratched/dented/worn 2: If I had something that was as rare as hen's teeth or never thought to exist (like some prototype IH diesel QL cub 4wd with quad ports, CAT 0, rear & mid PTO, power steering, air ride seat, and powered beverage cooler), I would (but then it would be relegated to 1: and not really used, so what good is a powered beverage cooler if it sits at a display. 3: If I had the setup to do it "right" (booth off a garage bay with plastic, HVLP gun, good compressor & air drier), then I probably would be using the "good" stuff. But if I went to that level, I would most likely be powder coating stuff, and paint is removed from the equation. 4: If price was in line with other paints. In fact, out of all the listed, that is the only way I would do it. I guess I am just a cheap SOB :biggrin2: |
Yep. $4.12 a can, just picked up some yellow, white and JD green :biggrin2:

I use the TSC paint. Dont see anything wrong with it.

Yep, my 128 is painted with TSC and Ace Hardware paint. I like it, is all that matters. I just didn't want it to rust anymore and still look good. :beerchug:

Thanks for letting us know! :beerchug:

The "NEW" paint TSC will be carrying will include IH white.
I don't know if that is Cub Cadet white, but, it is what I will be using!! I dropped a "C" note at TSC on Valspar paint today!! It's cheaper than psychotherapy and physical therapy!! :bigthink: :biggrin2: |
The IH White is what I used on the 128. I love the way it looks. :beerchug:
That is also Ace Hardware School Bus Yellow. It is a bit darker, but not by much. Here are the parts painted: http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...d/DSC02204.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...d/DSC02202.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...d/DSC02205.jpg |
Good thing I bought the paint for my 129 two weeks ago! :biggrin2:
Anyone know of another Valspar dealer? If I paint one with Valspar, would like the others to match. :beerchug: :biggrin2: |
