QA 42 deck
 

I am in the process of resurrecting a CC100. It has been sitting outside for over 15 years. This is the only attachment I have. Unless you include the ball hitch on the back? It is in very rough shape. Nothing moves. I haven't done anything with it except wire brush the leaves and junk that were rotting on the top.

Is it worth repairing or do I throw it away and look for a used one in decent condition?

Wild Bill, If I were to buy the right deck you are saying I would also have to buy the whole subframe as well? Matt mentioned to me a while back that this was not the right deck for this tractor. But I definitely have the subframe that works on this deck.

What would I expect to pay for a decent QA 42 or a Pin on 42 with subframe? How hard are they to find near upstate NY?

I am not doing a restoration at this point. Just trying to get it to work. Maybe later, when I have my tools will I try doing the complete paint and restoration. It has been a lot just getting it to work so far.

Yep, you'll need a subframe, too. They should be pretty easy to find for a reasonable price though.

Is the pin on a better deck or would it just be more original? I kind of like how easy it was to remove this deck.

In my opinion, the pin-on cast-end decks cut better than the stamped end ones. The pin-on decks aren't that hard to remove and reattach. Of course, I remove/reattach WAY too many decks, so I'm used to it and I can probably put a pin-on deck on in 5 minutes if nothing is bent. A A QA deck probably takes me 2 minutes. FYI, DON'T get a 38" pin-on cast-end deck...The gauge wheels will hit the 8.50 wide rear tires you have. The cast end 38" decks only work with 6-12 rears unless you cut off the gauge wheels on the deck, which you don't really want to do.

If you just need something that will cut for right now...

Yeah, that deck is pretty ate up, but it wouldn't take too much to repair the holes to get you by, make sure though, that the deck isn't rusted so badly in the places that would cause the spindles to break loose and go flying, and that nothing can come flying out of there that would/could injure someone.

You say that it's froze up, might want to investigate that further... The bearing sets for those used to be pretty spendy. Maybe someone here can give better information on some that are less expensive. You don't want to spend more money fixing a bad deck than you can buy a much better one for.
