50 C Deck Refinish
 

Well over the past couple of weekends I have spent many, many hours cleaning, sanding and putting POR-15, primer, paint and clear coat on the deck. Here are a ton of pics so that you can see the full impact.

looks good, but por-15 is for clean metal. it'll prob separate from the old paint and rust in a year or so.

Hey Doug,
I had read the directions very thouroughly and contacted POR before I did any of this work. The real purpose for the POR 15 is "Paint Over Rust" and that is what I primarily used it for on the underside and the to middle "business section" of the deck. What you can't see from the pictures is I had actually use the POR Metal prep per the directions as well. It is hard to judge how much of that coating you will need from the can, so once I had coated the areas that I had intended to coat to activate with the rust, I jjust kept on going. Figured that if a thin coat of paint lasted 30+ years, this extra measure of protection certainly not hurt. I work with several guys that use this stuff all of the time and they do not take any of the precautions that I have and all have had success with it and none of them use the Metal Prep at all......lucky if they even used a wire brush. I completely sanded the underside and the top rusted sections down as far as I could before treating and then coating.

Looks awesome! You obviously enjoyed doing it, so why don't we swap? Then you will have one to do all over again!!!!!
