Live PTO

I looked at an Ariens GT last night and noticied it had a Live PTO for the rear...

Could this be achieved on our Cubs with the correct splined shaft and a pillow block/bearing assy with a idler/belt config to adapt the implement shaft?

I know some tillers have a slip clutch on them or the belt drive would enough give to slip if something gets hit hard....

I have seen a few JD rear PTO assy for sale and was wondering how much of fabrication it would take to adapt to a CC....

Now if I could find a PTO kit that would be the cats meow...!

You can indeed, I have order the part to upgrade my 126. They are a challenge to find but can be done. It is important to note that the pto will be reverse spining so you will need a pto reverser or a master of engineering to make the tillers and what not. I have some ideas in that regard but am not 100% sure they will work. I thought about a right angle gear box and flip it from left or right, I am not sure if that would change the rotation or not but seems as though it would. If it worked was goung to design/re-engineer the drive unit on the attachment. I think it will all work but will need to consult with trial and error to be sure..

On the Cub Cadets they were a rare option I believe. Here's one on my 100.

Leadslingingdaddy-

The OEM rear PTO for the supers is a live PTO.

EarlJ-

The gear drive rear PTO is not live, as it in stops when you put the clutch in.

Matt

But it disengages via the electric clutch correct? The one I seen was constant ON.. When the tractor is running its turning... Had a cover over it...

Be nice to have enough interest where Xtreme or somebody else would make an aftermarket kit....

Thanks

The term 'Live PTO' means that it operates independently of the transmission and can be operated regardless of forward speed, and in the case of a gear drive tractor, whether or not the tractor is in gear or clutch disengaged.

Having it constantly on would be much easier to make, but I'd want to be able to shut it off.

Matt I did know that, just didn't specify. I've had several full size tractors just not a master of cubs..lol I appreciate you making that notation...

That Ariens couldn't of come like that from the factory. That would be a huge safety no-no. I think you can get a dual groove clutch but they are in the $500 range.
