FYI Rim guard smells really bad!
 

One of the valve stems on the BRS has developed a bad leak and Rim Guard is everywhere in the garage and that stuff STINKS!!!!!LOL It maybe great for weight but it is really nasty. It stains and is about impossible to wash off. Ive been using cat litter to absorb it up off the floor. I have to call Monday and find the closest dealer to Somerset to get it fixed.

Try some real oil soak up stuff like stay-dri, ask methos what he uses to get up stuff it really works great! Dont know about the smell. Maybe take the tire off and lay it valve side face up maybe it wont leak as bad!

I finally had to switch wheels and tires to my non weighted set until I get the valve stem fixed. Man those tires are HEAVY!! Kitty litter soaks it up good and its really cheap at the dollar store. It will wash off with some dawn dish soap and water but it gets sticky and thick pretty quick.
AJ if you ever smell it you will know for sure it will about make you gag! LOL I cleaned the rim/tire and got it sitting valve stem at 12 oclock and that seem to be working so far.
I could not believe the difference in the BRS with the non weighted wheels. Everything I own will have weighted wheels from now on.

I found out the closet Rim-guard dealer to me in southern Ky is in Bardstown about 80 miles away. I got their number if anybody needs it. The Rimguard rep suggested that if I didnt want to drive to Bardstown to have a local tire shop fix the leak and refill with water to replace the lost rimguard. He said in our climate they suggested a 50/50 mix with water. Also to always use metal valve stems. Got it fixed locally lost a lot of rimguard in the process but got a huge laugh at the tire guys faces when the got cover with the stink LOL.

I can sympathize with you. My Rimguard-filled 23x10.5x12's weigh 112.5 and 114 lb each. And they aren't absolutely full which means they slosh a little while rolling them around the garage and trying to mount them, adds that much more to the fun factor.

And YES that stuff stinks. It smells very ..... earthy and organic (in a rotting sort of way, ha). Here's to hoping I never have to remove or repair these tires. Which reminds me, I need to check about getting my winter setup filled and studded.

Ughhh, I hate to hear that valve went bad Don, sorry...:angry: As for the smell, well rim-guard is after all Beet juice, so the rotting smell would be appropriate LOL.

My questions to everybody is how bad is it going to be on the BRS now that the tires are going to be different weights. I am going to weight them to see the difference but I'm sure it is going to be several pounds.

I weighed the tires this morning
 

The tire that I did not repair weighs 145.6 lbs and the repaired tire now weighs 137.2 lbs. That is a difference of 8.4 lbs. I dont think the tire shop got the repaired tire completely full of water after the repair. I may see if I can figure out how to get one more gallon of water in to get the weight numbers closer on the tires.

FWIW:
According to the tire manufactures, tires are suppose to be filled only to the stem with it @ 12 o'clock position,-- about 90%.
This allows for a little air cushion as well as checking pressure without loss of liquid.
