122 carb problems again
Guys, I've tried everything in the book to fix the old girl but have the same problem. I can set the carb just like the book says and by ear now but after I run the mower one time getting warmed up good and shut it down, it likes to flood out a lot. It has all new gaskets, seat, bowl, float and so on. I have a Carter on my 12hp Kohler and just need help to figure it out. I even buy regular gas with out ethanol in it

When it floods are you talking about raw gas
Running out? Black smoke ? |
Float level set correctly? Are you using a sediment bowl or fuel filter? Is there a bunch of crap in the tank? Do you have the needle valve in upside down?
|
check your float for a leak. I've had several with leaking floats and depending on how much gas they take on they will act differently

when ever i run it she does good for a bit then starts loading up on fuel and black smoking bad. i can open the throttle up and she clears out in WOT but anything under WOT she black smokes and ive turned the main jet in but then i have no response in WOT. everything is set like it shuld be and ive rebuilt many carbs so everything is in the the right spot.

I'll say check the venting on your gas cap. Heat from motor could be causing expansion in the tank and if cap isn't venting out, you'd be pressurizing the tank thereby forcing the fuel downwards to carb.
