129 troubleshooting noise

Hello gurus

I have been having this noise from I'm thinking the front of the mower. Not sure because it seems like it might be the middle (drive shaft area)
Anyway It doesn't do it all the time but it does seem to be getting worst so either way I'm going to know before too long.
So my guesstimation was it may be the PTO or tranny related. Yet today while mowing I noticed what looked like oil seeping from the hot post of the S/G. Turn outs it was super hot and melting the gasket/seal around the thread going into the S/G. So now I'm thinking maybe I have a bearing going bad in the S/G and it's making the growl like noise I hear. Some more background would help I think.

My hydro has the trunion issue and I was thinking maybe there might be an issue with that while sitting idle which was making the noise. Or it's drive shaft related.
Except this is probably the least likely I feel since it sounds like it happens while the I'm moving/mowing even.

Now I thought maybe it was the PTO since it makes the noise regardless if it was engaged or not. My button is wearing but it appears to be functioning OK still. So not positive on this issue. When I shut the mower down it sounds like it still wants to keep "turning" Not the engine itself but whatever this issue is.. Today was the most noticeable I guess because the engine was pretty much killed and it still sounded like something was "engaged"
Man it's hard to describe noises.. I'm thinking about recording it if it might help any.

I video would help.

No video, I'm lucky to even own a digital camera.
Haven't owned a tracker erm cell phone in several years either so definitely no video.
Were you suggesting video for the audio track? I can record better audio with the gear I have than any consumer video device.
If so than ok I can do that. The neighbors will think I've really lost it now
shoving a microphone into the guts of my cub :Detective1:

I mic would work as well. Your nieghors will get over it and if not oh well.:biggrin2: I'm thinking it's your pto but until we hear it it could be anything.

I was leaning towards the PTO myself before I noticed the terminal wanting to melt down yesterday. That is probably a whole different issue unto itself though..
I'll try and get a audio track this evening when the sun starts to head down.
Thank you for now though.

Well I'm pretty sure the S/G is the culprit here.
Could still be the PTO but the one post has melted down on the S/G and it was smoking like crazy today when I attempted to mow.
I managed to get the front lawn done and she lost power which was due to the battery being dead! I have a charger on it now so I can nurse her back into her parking spot in the garage. Debating about picking up a used one from Chris on here or buying a rebuilt one for a little extra at this point.
I'm guessing the bearing is seizing up on this one and will probably have it rebuilt if possible locally.
Guess I shouldn't have held off mowing the lawn so long, that rear is going to be fun when I get her back together. :BlahBlah:
