982 Hydro Issue ?
I have an issue with my newly purchased 982 that I hope you guys can help me with. Sometimes when I attempt to back up it goes very slow or not at all. If I move the hydro control lever forward then back quickly it usually will start to move slow back then take off as it should and seems to be fine. Forward seems to be ok.
Also after running it for awhile it leaves a pretty good puddle of trans fluid under the rear end. Could this be the relief valves leaking and causing the issues? I have not pulled the rear fender tins yet but that is my next move. Thanks for your help. |
Have you taken the tunnel cover off yet? Once you do, you will see if the relief valves are leaking or not. :beerchug:

No, I haven't pulled it apart yet. Would the relief valves cause the hydro to act as described? I'm guessing from what I've read so far on the forum that it will. I'll be pulling the sheet metal off tonight.

Sounds like the trunion might need welded on the hydro and new springs in it. I'd take a look at that quick. There's countless threads on repairing it.
