Pest control: Ground squirrels!
Really off topic, general question for all. It's been really dry this year and the ground squirrels have taken over!! :bash2: Never had em this bad before. These things have tunnels everywhere around my house and are destroying my wife's hostas and other plants as well as my yard. Other than firepower, do you guys have any tricks or good ways to remove these pests? Not really interested in live traps if ya catch my drift. I'm looking at roughly 50+ holes spread out throughout my yard. Help! TIA for any and all suggestions. :beerchug:

Try moth balls. Just drop 1 or 2 in each hole.

Don't know if it will work for your critters but I had a ground hog that decided to make a home over the buried electrical line to my barn. Figured I better get him before he ate through the wire. I got a piece of dryer vent hose, stuck it down the hole and put the other end over the tail pipe to my pickup. Filled the holes and end of problem. :biggrin2:

Jackblack,
Never heard of that. Did ya try it and did it work for ya? Sounds easy enough. Sam Mac, I did think of that, but at the price of gas, it might get expensive seeing I've got a ton of ground motels. :biggrin2: Kinda gets me thinking of that dancing gopher on Caddyshack! :beerchug: Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm also looking into live trapping and then "relocating them". :banned: |

I haven't seen a mole run in three years!! The lawn looked like it was "mini-plowed" by moles before we got a couple of feral cats to "move in"!! :bigthink: A cup of cat food trice a day is a low cost security system!! :biggrin2: |
