1882 With M18 Kohler Won't Start
I can not get the ol' 1882 to start now. Leading up to this I was experiencing after an hour of mowing it dying. I could get back on it after an hour and it would start back up and continue mowing. I have spark on both plugs. I have fuel getting to bowl of carb. I can spray starter fluid in carb and it will start and try to run. I have taken carb off and cleaned. No issues with float. Any thoughts from the pros ?

Have you looked at the needle valve in the carb? The starter fluid response sounds like it is a fuel issue rather than anything else. If that needle valve is clogged or if the seat is clogged you will not get any gas to it. Also, see if the float is moving up and down freely. Here is the web site for Matt's carb re-build that may help you.

Thx inspectorudy for a quick response. Will try your link and keep my fingers crossed.

In addition, you may want to look at the Fuel Pump, screen in the gas tank of the shut off valve, and any Fuel Filters that maybe in line between the tank and the carb.
|
You can also check the vent valve in the fuel filler cap. Good luck.

Change all the fuel line from the tank to the engine also. The crapahol gas eats the old fuel lines and sometimes the liner will colapse. Ask me how I know. :biggrin2:

Success
A $4 can of Gumout Carb cleaner and finally recognizing I did not attach the inlet needle to the float correctly... Back on the road again. Replace dry rotted fule lines while I had it apart. Thx for the help folks.
