KT17 from 782 question

Pulled to motor on my 782 to replace a leaky rear seal. Couple quick questions. After I got the flywheel off, the crank seal just fell out. Looks like it was blown out by pressure. I remember someone talking about the breather not working right would blow out seals. Is this true? Also, when you guys put these seals back in, how deep do you seat them and do you add a sealer to the OD to keep the seal in place and from moving around in the bore? Thanks in advance all. First 2 banger I've been into. :beerchug:

I recently replaced the rear seal in my command 20 and wondered the same thing. I read in the manual that the new seal is just mounted flush with the tunnel. The book also recommends a product like permatex around the outside edge. The new seal did fit much tighter than the worn one I took out.

Thanks Paul,
That's what I was thinking.

Anybody have an idea on the seal blowout. I remember reading it somewhere, but can't find it in the search.
