Kohler - setting valve guides
I'm not sure who's been following along, but I got the valve guides out of this old K301AS from my Cub 123. Intake one came out predictably, whereas the exhaust guide was a real PITA. Good news, is they're both out.
Now, what tricks do you guys have for setting the new guides to the right depth? I am used to driving guides in with a pneumatic hammer, until they bottom out on an OHV engine. These guides need to be set to a depth. I have the right drive tool for my air hammer (5/16"), but how to stop at just the right place? Thanks! |
