If I didn't own a Cub, I'd own a: ________
Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering if there is a consensus among the Cub Club.
Basically, the question is this: If you didn't own a Cub Cadet, what would you own? I'll start. I would own a Gravely. In a heartbeat, I'd trade mine for an old one (four wheel, not two) How about you? |
More IH tractors!
|
I agree with old Gravely. If I had an order it would be, Kubota Diesel, Gravely, and last but not least a Farmall in the smaller variety :)
|
Farmall M with a 3 pt hitch mower for the summer mowing and a blade for the winter.
|
Well, I'm not strictly a Cub man myself. I also own a Dixie Chopper, a Husqvarna LT, a Wheel Horse Raider 12, and a Craftsman LT, along with my Ford N Series Tractors, so I guess I'd own more Fords probably, but I do like the Gravelys too.
|
Honda RT5000, there great tractors I own one. If you thought Cub Cadets were built like tanks try a Honda out. Mine weighs over 1200pounds with the wheel weights.

go back to the vintage Cubs and I think they and the old JD's were in the same class (same parts even) so I guess I would say JD solely because of the dealer network around here (we are "green", not much red or yellow).
I have a 1965 JD 2020 sitting in the driveway as I type...need to get it pulled into the shop (I bought it not even knowing if it will run but for the price I guess it will part out for what I paid for it) before the snow flies...couldn't find a Cub LoBoy. |
I think I would probably look for a John Deere 100 or 200 series tractor. There are a few of them around. Their hydros, I believe, are Sundstrand as well, and they were durable tractors. Both IH and Deere are strong around here, but there aren't too many Cub Cadets. I might even paint that Deere Red and White, just to be different.
The only things that should be green and yellow are the NDSU Bison. GO Bison! |
I kind of like the JD 317's and 318's but I would not give up my Kubota BX
|
I'd go with the Cub lo Boy. I had a 185 ( I think that was it or a 184). I really liked it.
Second would be a Gravely. My family had a Christmas tree farm in VA and we had a gravely zero turn (forget model, it had the U shaped handle bar/steering) and 30 years later it is still going. |
