New (old) AG tires on my 127
2 Attachment(s)
Hi all,
Well...I finally picked up a pair of decent used Carlisle Power Trac AG tires with rims for either my 73 or 127. I decided to put them on my 127 to see how they looked, and I'm pretty happy with them, however they are 23 x 8.50 x12 and look to be mounted on wider rims. I guess this is fine, but it puts them at a bit wider stance than the stock rims and tires. I didn't measure the rims, but they look like the same ones on my 1211, as the valve stem is on the inside. My other thought was how small they look compared to the old good year 23 x 8.50 x 12 tires that were on it. Dimensionally they aren't as tall, and a tad narrower. Could this be from mounting them on wider rims, or do sizes fluctuate that much? Whatcha think? :biggrin2.gif: Jeff (teet) |
Here are the same tires on 7 inch wide rims:

Thanks for the pic Merk! Those look great! My rims are definately wider than your 7" rims...I may end up swapping them over to the 7" rims on my 73.
Whats are you opinion about the tires in general? I know they are 2 ply, but for light usage, either snow plowing or just pulling a trailer, they should be ok..right? Jeff (teet) |
Your tires look great, Jeff! They will be fine, for what you want to do. :beerchug:

I have them on my 149 and my 100. Both go to plow days and my 149 is used in the witertime for snow removal. They are great tires. 2 ply is all you need. Anything over a 4 ply on a garden tractor is wasting your money. |
TEET,
Tires look great  You will be able to get a bite now :beerchug: |
They look teet. I can't believe you will have any load issues with them.

Thanks Merk, ACecil, Diz and RPalmer! I'm happy with them so far, and I'm sure they will work great! I got a great deal on these in lightly used condition, but it seems like they are quite reasonably priced brand new! I may have to pick up a pair of 23 x 10.50 x 12 for my 1211 now :beerchug:

That's odd...I've owned a lot of CCC-built tractors, NONE of which had the valve stems on the inside. The CCC 8.5" wide wheels are identical to the ones used on the IH tractors, and were used until about 1997.
