Thank you for letting me join this community.
I am 53 and live in Missouri. My step-son bought an IH Cub Cadet 71 (it says on the hood) very cheap and in decent shape (won't start though). After extensively searching the .net, I found this forum and several others. The serial #159076 (isn't posted or listed anywhere) was found on a tag on top of the rear axel/pto housing and I can't find anything out about this. I would appreciate any help so I can post any further questions in the appropriate thread.

That 71 was produced towards the end of June 1966. Also welcome to OCC, glad to have you here. We have many great and knowledgeable people here that can help you with most anything. Oh before the others chime in, we really love pics of cubs here. :beerchug:

Take a look thru all of the different areas here at OCC especially the Tractor and Implement Library sections. Most of the information you will probably need including Serial numbers by months and years, Kohler engine manual, Cub 71 service manual and owner's manual. You can download the manuals and print them out.

Every Cub Cadet produced by IH had a unique serial number. Since your 71 is an IH model, the "IH Cub Cadet Tractors (GT)" section of the forum would be the place to post any topics related to this tractor.

Is the rest of the 71 as clean as that tag? Nicest tag I've seen on a NF.:beerchug:

Need more pics of the 71!

Thanks for helping out and the welcome. I will post some pictures tomorrow in the GT thread. I'm in Liberty and if my profile lets me, I will add it.
Now that I now when it was manufactured, I will be able to find the manuals. Oh, by the way, no, the rest of the tractor is not that clean but, not trashed.

Welcome! We would love to see more pics of your 71. Man I wish I could find a place to make serial number tags like that one!
