Brand New 1210 owner
1 Attachment(s)
I'm brand new to this scene. I found this. Had to get it. One owner. Has a new PTO clutch with 1000 hrs.. No smoke. No rust . All stock original. 44" deck. All of the original decals are on- including tire pressure decals on rims...amazing for a 1988 tractor. Sure beats any other new ride for the $$$. Learned how to drive, and it really cut the grass well last week. Almost too nice to use regularly. I don't think it's ever seen rain or any mud. Fortunately- I have a nice, easy, flat .6 acres- so hopefully i will take it easy on the tractor. I don't plan to pull anything...
A few questions for you guys: 1) tips for winter storage? 2) any tips for a striper or roller I could rig for the hitch? 3) should I switch to mobile one synthetic ? 4) where can I find chrome hubcaps? 5) I really think I'll need a bagger in the spring grass. Afraid I'll need a $1700 hitch mounted trac-vac. Any other options? Can I retrofit a newer cub bagger to the deck? Thanks for reading...I uploaded some more photos in an album if you click through my profile.... |

Wow, talk about clean! That thing looks brand new! If it came with a manual, it would tell you all you need to know about winter storage.

1) warm it up and change the oil. Drain gas and run carb dry or stabilize gas. Even when stabilized I prefer to run the carb dry. Pull spark plug and squirt a bit of oil in the cylinder, then turn over a few times to distribute the oil. Put plug back in. Clean the deck and spray with WD-40 or other light oil, sharpen blades and put them back on, grease deck and tractor. Put a new air filter on it, remove battery, and you should be all set. How much cleaning you do is up to you. 2) Don't know 3) No. Just run 10W30 Kohler oil or equivalent. 4) Don't know but check the site sponsers, I'm sure one will have them. 5) I use a decent quality sweeper dragged behind the tractor. I have a mulching deck so I sweep with mower deck running, your 44" is side discharge so maybe mow first, then sweep, you'll get more in the sweeper each pass that way. It will pick up a lot in a reasonable time, I wouldn't go to a vac unless I had a much larger yard. I hope this helps! |
Good stuff. Thank you. Should I spray wd 40 under the deck too?

Wow, what a nice 1210! I have one I picked up last year that I put some work into. Unfortunately the engine is blown in it now and is already on one rebuild.
Take care of that thing! |
That is a nice 1210.
Clyde once we get your 1641 sorted out we will turn to your 1210. Welcome to the addiction buddy. Won't be long before you will be looking for a Super. LOL :biggrin2: |
Haha no doubt Sam. I'm already on Craigslist several times a day but lately the first thing I look for is used cubs!
