AGS 2160 Manual

I have recently purchased a AGS 2160. I was reffered to this site in hopes of answerig some questions. First, when your cutting and shift to reverse the pto shuts off. When youve been cutting a while, sometimes it wont reengage. Second, there is a metal rod under the shift lever under the fender with a spring on it. I cant seem to find out what this is used for. Any help would be greatful. Thanks

I have the manual in PDF form. Shoot me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send you a copy. I think what your talking about with the spring is the deck lift assist. Post a pic of it if you can. The PTO cut off in reverse is a safty device that we don't talk about on the site, can you say law suit?

Thanks Sam, i sent the PM. I dont think its the spring asist, this is on the right side under the geat shift. It rotates up and down like it might be controled some by the gear shift if it hooked up properly. Ill try to post a pic and show it shortly.

The parts manual I have calls that a torsion spring. The 2185 I gutted a couple years ago had that arm and spring on either side of the tractor. The springs hook onto the back of the deck and the levers push down and latch under neath the frame rails. Pretty cheesy set up if you ask me. Not exactly sure of the function of said arms whether they keep the proper tension on drive belt or assist in the float operation of the deck. Your guess is as good as anyone's.

Mine only has one of them. Not saying tha i didnt come with two. LOL When i hokked it up to the rear of the deck, it seemed to caused more tension on the deck and would not let it go down. Just dont know. Thanks

I think for the small deck you don't get that then the next size up you got one and the large deck had two.

I would send Vince o on this forum a message he services that style mower quite frequently and will know what the function of that spring and arm are. I never kept mine around long enough to worry about it.
