Small engine books....

I'm looking to learn how small engines work and how to repair them. Hoping for some really basic stuff first just to get a general knowledge. Can I please get some tips.

Garnold .you didnt say what kind of engine ,you want too work on ,so start with a Kohler manual it will cover the single cylinder engines .David

Well I guess that shows you how little I know right now huh

I have a 108 that I'm looking to take care of and want to better understand how it all works. I'm starting from the ground floor here and need the kindergarten speed class :)

So can I download something like you mentioned? Would you mind helping me with a link? Honestly I'm sorry for the baby questions here but I really have no idea what I'm doing but need to finally get over this lack of knowledge and learn something about small engines. I'm really into this 108 and want to be able to take care of it and rebuild it when it needs some help. Plus Craigslist can be a dangerous place with you type in Cub Cadet into the search box :biggrin2:

I suggest that with a few manuals and engine basic /training books, but check out the web on the subject . buy a cheap or broke down mower engine for the purpose of dismantling and reassembly. maybe a 2cly as well.

Right now I have a 108 Cadet and want to be able to take care of it. I'm trying to track down the service manual as we speak :)

Go to the tec. section of the site, for tractors and find your tractor and down load it. It should have and owners and service manual avalable.
Sorry I don't know how to do the link thing.
