So my 451 snow thrower ate a piece of metal and stalled my 2082. It took little bit to get piece out. Once I got it out and started blower back up, I notice it was noisy and had a vibration. I noticed the 2nd stage now has a large amount of play. Has anyone had these apart and know what might have broken? I tried looking at a parts break down but was hard to tell how was actually set up. It is still working but I don't want it to eat itself up. :bash2:

(A) Check the feed auger to see if it is bent and/or out of balance.

(B) Check the impeller for being warped and any missing parts of the blades.

I have a 451 and my son has a 551 blower. The two are pretty much the same operations wise. The auger is attached to the shaft by a shear pin or bolt. That would be the first place I would check to see if your pin is sheared or partially sheared or possibly the hole in the auger has elongated allowing play. A new bolt or pin can fix the first two. A washer with the proper size hole for the pin and slightly bent to the curvature of the auger shaft and then welded in place will fix the other problem.

The feed stage is fine. It's the blower stage that the noise is coming from. You can grab the blower/fan and wiggle it. Seems to have a lot of play now and that is ware the noise is coming from and would think is also the cause of the vibration. The piece of metal made it through the feed fine. It got gamed in the blower and stalled the tractor. Can see that shaft is attached to fan with roll pin and then go's to the gear box for the feed stage. Don't know what is between the fan and the input gear box. Or what holds it on.. Can't really tell from the parts brake down... But I am pretty sure something is now broken cause feels like a lot of play and the vibration and noise is new.....
