Governor

What if any problems do the nylon Type governors have? My engine had a steel type. I was thinking about ordering a short block k241 and it has the nylon type.

From personal experience I've had the nylon/plastic type gears actually come apart. Never once had a problem with a metal setup. Can u put the metal one in the new block?

A new nylon gear should last quite awhile. One trick I've heard is that if you are in the engine and find the gear has been stained brown/orange, it's deteriorated and is time for a new one.

personally I wouldn't worry about it. the plastic ones do last a long time. I think I've seen more of the governor rods that through the block and the governor operates against break off than I have governors fail.
