Got this yesterday
 

Got the hydraulic cylinder & mounting brackets from another member on the forum (thanks macman!) and scored this 42" IH plow for my 1250 from a gentleman with a machine shop right over the border into Mass. He said he didn't paint it yellow, so I assume someone before him did--he wasn't a cub cadet collector, but a collector of all kinds. He did have about 8 cub cadets, though. He had a 149 he had in pieces about 80% restored and a 782D. He had a low boy in pristine restored condition in a vehicle tent tucked away behind a rusty 8N and a few other smaller tractors (he had an 8N w/ loader fully restored right in the parking lot when I came in). Was pretty cool to see his assortment of toys and he was fair on the plow and threw in some 1/2" rodstock to make a new lift rod (he couldn't find where he'd put the one for it).

He said he might be liquidating some of his inventory, so I might be back to check out that 149 and the 782D (I don't think the diesel was running). He said he replaced the driveshaft as the torque broke the original 5/8" one--is that common?

That's not an IH blade...it's from a mid-90s CCC 'cyclops' tractor. The subframe is different from the earlier ones, and while it fits on the frame, you'll find that the front of the subframe is only a couple inches off the ground with it mounted. I had one of those, and it worked on my 782, but I didn't like how low the subframe was to the ground, so I sold it and found a correct one.

I also found that blades with that subframe are worth a lot to someone who needs one...they are not very common.

Thanks Matt! Did this originally come yellow then? I got this one a lot cheaper than I could find any IH blades around here. He said the last CC's he bought were the 1862 and 1864, so there were a few newer plastic ones. He also had a 1450 & 1650 though.

EDIT: Also, with it only being a couple inches off the ground, am I going to run into issues putting the hydraulic kit on--or was that just the subframe?

It originally came yellow. That would be correct for an 1864 and any other of the later 'cyclops' tractors with the tall front axle. I've not tried it but I imagine that lift cylinder will nearly drag on the ground with that subframe.

Good to know. I'll throw it on there without the kit on and see how it looks before I decide to do anything more with it; I have found someone else with a blade I can get but it was an even longer drive and it may not be for another week or two (had to go to Boston to see my brother anyway so this was on the way, but it was still 3 hours to the blade). Yeah, I will most likely be getting an IH blade soon to put it on in the next couple weeks once I make my way south again. This one did get on fine, but the hydraulic cylinder would have been essentially 1" or less off the ground, especially when the blade was raised. I'll just use it manual for now, tried it out on some pretty frozen snow/ice and it plowed right through it on the way to check the mail.

Got this sleeve hitch adapter in the mail today as well. Probably going to sand it up and paint it before I put it on.
