1650 Blower and Cab

Finished the rebuild on the QA42 (all bearings in housing and gear box -new yoke end and U joints) 7 days ago. Found the Cab in Craig's list for $100 and just spent the last 2 days installing. Found a way to avoid drilling holes since I hope to rebuild the Cub this summer. Used 3/16 plate bent to fit on top and extend beyond the fenders ( cab a little wider) using the foot rest screws to secure. For extra security used a clamp to fasten rear corner -last photo. Finished two days before spring - now it looks like I will get to use it!!!!

Thanks - projects take a lot longer than when I was 20. Also installed a speed up pulley 3 1/2 in. steel (read post that with solid drive line system it will work) so will report on that .

Don't forget to get some rubber hose and cut it on one side, then glue it over the edge of your fender/foot rest extention so the metal doesn't cut the vinyl on your doors.

Cab was perfect - 3 1/2 pulley worked great for 30 min. - will be adding edge belting after paint.

Ran great at 25 deg. blew snow 15' or so (scaly rusty inside) Shaving cream on inside Rain ex outside no problems. Kevlar belt disintegrated at bottom of 1500' driveway. Hanger was sloppy and may have been alignment problem . Ran back to shop , pulled nose added 1/2 bolt to eliminate slop reset and ran fine after (has new rubber mounts and snubber) At 2:00 with wet snow it plowed piles in front and clogged - slick paint next year. Wonder if these cabs are Cozy Cab?
