What oil is everyone running in them ? Straight 30 ? det or nondet ? Anyone know how much one holds empty ? I was thinking a little over 2 qts ?

Straight 30wt non detergent oil.

I have a QL and it holds 1.5 quarts or 3 pints.

I use HD 30 wt. I'm using Valvoline at this time. I may go for the amsoil in the future. I was thinking the synthetic might be more stable at the high oil temps.

My Kohler service manual says to use high quality straight 30 detergent oil.

I run Shell Rotella 30wt in mine since I've heard it still contains zinc which is good for older engines.
