son in welding school
 

My boy has been in welding school for 4 months now and thought i would post some pics of his test pieces. the flat ones are ready for the bend test and are tig root with 7018 fill polished and ready to bend.
so far he has only had to redo 1 test.:beerchug: the horizontal pipe is stainless. the vertical pipe is tig.

Nice makes me wish I would have went to school for it. Lookin good

I'm in school for deisel mechcanic's we do alittle welding. we did some test welds on leaf springs and my welds broke at 9 tons!! in the press

I had welding school in the Navy from March until September.

They X-rayed our weld plates, 3/4" thick. :bigeyes:

We used 6011 root pass, then 7018, 8018, and then 11018.

Overhead was easier than vertical.

NO, I ain't tellin' the year!!:banned: Somebody might figure out my age!! :biggrin2:

We also did a lot of brazing, silver soldering, and TIG, just a little MIG.

My dad tought me how to weld, by telling me theres the welder, some steel try it out.

That's great. I love to see young people getting to learn some useful trades. There is a demand for good welders. I hope he likes it and stays with it.
