looks identical to the trans that my grandpas Cub LT has in it, my Dads JD has, and a ton of other MTD junkers ive had have had in it. they are all garbage.

They have a nice sales pitch for a piece of garbage. The only part of the whole trans that I like is the VCT portion of it. It's amazing what they make from plastic. As drglinski stated I will keep my 40 yr old cubs for another 40 yrs.

Marketing says.......that they have to keep the price of the tractor under $1499.99 and they will do it.:biggrin2:

CVT is a great concept. I bought my daughter an ATV with a CVT transmission in 1996.

You can come over and still ride that machine at my place. 17 years and the CVT is perfect.

The second one we bought in about 2004 is also perfect.

As far as the plastic molded parts, :bigthink: I lean towards plastic more than most, if done correctly.

On the other side of the coin though the cvt technology has proven itself pretty reliable through out the years at a fraction of the cost of a hydro. My son in law has a cub lawn tractor and he is the type that "it had better start, mow the damn lawn and not be seen until next week when needed" kind of guy and that tractor works great for him and the millions like him. Guy's like us would turn those poor little machines into garbage fodder within 24 hrs. that's why they make very expensive sub compacts. So the moral of the story is to keep those old cubbies running boyz ! :IH Logo::ThumbsUp:
