There are 4 bolts on the front on the gear box. DO these need to be tightened down? I bought this blower used and it appears that mine have been sliding up and down for YEARS.

There are 4 bolts in the plate with slotted holes. If these are the ones you are talking about, they are tight but there are spacers so they allow the up and down movement for the belt tensioner. The plate is meant to be lose enough for slide movement.Move your tensioner screw and the plate should slide on the slotted holes.
