LT 1018, maybe has issues??
Hi all, new guy here, and I've got a cub lt1018 with the briggs els500, 31q777. It currently has 128 hours on it, and this past weekend I replaced the head gasket on it. And of course after, I did an oil change. Now, that much I'm good with, but I screwed up the valves, bad. Enough so that the aluminum pushrod was bent. I was able to bend it back and re-do the valves correctly, and it is running at this point.
Here's the deal. First, could I have damaged any other internal part of the motor? I have read similar stories online that had other symptoms that would lead me to believe there are other issues, but as of now it's running great. With one exception. I decided to mow this morning after my repairs were complete last night, I was about 75% done with my mowing when I went up a modest grade and the thing just started smoking like crazy and running horribly. Did so for a few seconds before I killed the motor. Blue smoke. Leveled it out, checked for leaks and other symptoms and found none. Cranked it back up, no smoke and ran just fine. So I feel that I might have overfilled the oil a bit and when I hit that grade it shifted in whatever manner it makes sense in my mind, and burned off through the combustion chamber. Thoughts? |
