1200
 

bought a 1200 a month ago for 150 . Just started working on getting it running. Noticed that the oil fill tube was not in the cooling shroud like my 1250. It is outside the shroud fully exposed. Why is this different ? I thought they were the same engine. lso on the 1200 there is a 6g ground wire going from the starter mounting bolt to the frame but the 1200 does not have that ground. Just a few observations and wondering the difference. The good part is the 1200 has a 26 Kohler carb in great shape. My 1250 had a walbro which I swapped out to a kohler. What is the carb rebuild kit number for this carb.

Smoker..You need the Manuals...all your current questions are answered in the TC-157 parts manual.. found at www.binderbooks.com.

I suppose all or most questions asked on here could be answered in the books. But figured thats why the forum is here. To help answer questions by the expertise of others. I do have the manuals , books etc. But they were not at my disposal at the time of the questions. If I know the answer i am more than willing to offer it. I dont know much about these Cubs but I am always learning. If every question is answered with " go look in the books", I dont see much point in having these forums. Sorry , just my personal feelings. I enjoy being able to answer questions and help people out, I just dont have much to offer when it comes to Cubs.

I wish I could answer your questions but i'm not that familiar with the quietlines anymore. you did absolutely nothing wrong with asking your questions hopefully someone will chime in if not pm me and I point you in the right direction for some help.

I did find the answers I was looking for. Appreciate your comments. Sometimes I just like to ask and get different comments. Makes the whole Cub thing more fun when I can actually converse on these forums with others having the same interests. Its much more interesting when coming from an individual than reading in a book.:beerchug:

I don't mean to hurt anybody's feelings here but when I see someone post a question I assume he has gone as far as he can and needs help.

If you are just looking for someone to agree with what you have done or you don't want to spend the time looking up the answer then say what it is you want.

I have spent time researching and writing up the procedures for things like adjusting PTO's and then have people come back and say (oh yea I knew that, just wondering if there was a different way). Or sometimes you post an answer and then never hear if it helped or not.

I asked a couple questions on a Cub forum. If it is only a last resort forum I guess I will treat it as such. I did not have the manuals with me at the time, as I previously stated. When I was thinking of the issues, I thought of this forum because guys here like to help others and just talk Cubs. I thought the forums were to help others. If you dont want to help dont reply , not a problem. I thought we were all here for the same reason.Its not a job to help, you do it because you enjoy it . If its labor intensive it is no longer a hobby. Sorry I asked before I did my homework. I thought thats what friends were for. Guess I will do my due dilligence before I ask any other questions. You state " Then say what you want" , did I not word my questions clear enough? Guess I will stick to MTF, the guys over there are a little more accommodating to us beginners. No offense aagitch, I appreciate your efforts, but I guess I dont fit the "good ol boy profile" for some of the regulars. I certainly did not intend to cause any riff here. Just wanted to talk Cubs.

Don't know much about the fill tube, but IF your tractor has a starter generator, not to farmiliar myself with this model, then possibly the wire/strap/cabel is a ground added by the previous owner :)

I look up to both you Myron and you Richard, I really really enjoy your rite ups richard and if they were in a book would purchase it.
I do absolutly agree that manuals are a must, BUT hands on knoledge and experience, verbal/ written ideas and help is why were here arnt we???
I really appreciate all the hours you two put into your areas of experteas, I also have spent hours in the "books" hours readin what others have been nice enough to share with me and hours reading the fourms, ALL of wich has contributed to my knoledge. I will read a manual but actually like to hear from a person with experience has to say, I think your write ups are more informative then the manuals, if I could ask you questions by writing

I'm sorry but I don't see people being told to read the manual nearly as much as I have seen it on this fourm,(nothing at all against this fourm,this is "home" for me) if a question is asked multipul people chime with experience

I also do not want to hurt anyone's feelings or make anyone mad but I really have to agree with the statement above from RChristensen. Often times when someone asks about something (especially if it's something that isn't "run of the mill" stuff) they may get several opinions on what the "cause" could be then there isn't a follow up on what it was that finally did fix the problem.

On more than one occasion I have read a post where someone asked about something that is very similar to something that I may have "on a back burner" and I'll think to myself "I'll be glad to see how this turns out" and it seems that all too often that it never does...

I really don't mind sharing what little I do know about most anything, but for Heavens sake, give us a little feedback about how things went and what really was causing the problem. Sharing back really does help out too.

If "Go read the book" is the answer to all problems then what are we all doing here??? Manuals will tell you that there is a difference, if one exists, but more often than not they won't tell you WHY.

This has little to do with my original post.None of my questions were of the type to give you or RC an answer such as" Hey great it worked for me " . I asked because I was always impressed that the "elders" had the answers in there memory banks . I apologize to all OCC members for posting inappropriate questions. I certainly did not intend to cause all this drama . I will resign my self to a lurker , learning from reading the posts ,no questions asked, or I guess I can do that in the books. :bigthink:
