44A deck issue
4 Attachment(s)
Greetings. Today I had the pulley bearings go on the idler arm assembly. The idler pivot shaft is rusted in and I will have to cut it off underneath. Where can I find these parts? As I see it the spring and idler arm look OK. I need the pulley and pivot shaft only (i think). The problem is I am not finding the parts readily available at any sponsor or by Google. Help finding these parts would be great. Here are some pics.
The first pic is of my rusty/in need of welding and paint 50A deck. I don't think it has been used in a Looongggg time. It mowed my yard like a champ even though the rear right support is almost falling off. It also shows the idler arm how it should be. |
Actually I guess the first question is whether or not I can even replace this part. I seem to remember some posts of decks being re-done with this part removed. I will stop by my CC/IH dealer tommorow and see what they say.

However, I ended up buying the arm kit at my CC dealer along with a new flat pully. Not cheap! |
I do not recommend removing the idler pulley. I'm glad you found (expensive... :bash2: ) parts to replace it.

The new shaft was too long for the new arm unless I left the belt shield off or modified it. I ended up using the old shaft and did a test mow today and it worked great. It was.......Fun! On another note, my 44 deck gives an inferior cut to my 50. 44 has new blades and parts. The 50 probably hasnt been touched in 30+ years. Amazing. |

Both my 44" and 50" cut equally well. You may have to level it:bigthink: |

I must need a levelling on the 44.....the center blade gives a choppy cut. |
the center blade may be bent or you may have center bearings going out. I do like the way these decks cut, though.
