1912 rock shaft
Is there a trick to get the rock shaft out of a model 1912? The left side lift arm weld has broken on mine, and I don't want to weld it in chassis. I have removed the two 3/8"X2" split pins. The center shaft won't come out, seems like it is rusted tight inside the tube. I want to make sure I haven't missed or forgot something before I get rough with it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Yeah, it's rusted tight in the tube. You'll need a ton of PB blaster and probably a torch if that doesn't work. Those aren't fun to get out...

Thanks for the reply Matt and Bill, I thought I was seeing everything right, but wanted to check first. Thanks again, Mike

Got the rock shaft fixed. Had to cut the old center shaft out. Made a new one of w-1 drill rod. I rifle drilled the right end of the new shaft, installed a grease zerk, and cross drilled the shaft at the point where the rock shaft floats inside the lift arm from the cylinder. I hope this will keep it from siezing up and loosing float capability in the future. Time will tell.
