1x2/3 series hood ornament,........
Knowing the 1x2/3 series GT, we identify the hood as a "swept-back" design. What I have always wanted to know, is the correct position/installation of the hood ornament. Reason being because I see so many Gt's with it fastened on one way or the other.
Here is the way I have mine, which makes total sense to me. You can just make out how I have the ornament: http://i42.tinypic.com/2q99hrc.jpg[/IM IH Cub Cadet model 71, serial# 184004 with IH #2 garden cart with 55 gallons Miracle Grow. |
The way you have yours makes sense... It won't reach out and grab a tree branch or whatever and slap you in the face with it.
HOWEVER, it is my belief that, that style of ornament was made to replicate the ornament on an Original and therefore should be turned the other way. I have tractors with them in either direction, I don't normally change them because you end up with messed up/scratched paint exposed. |
From every one I've seen in ads and so on they are the other way around from yours. I personaly like them better the correct way. But who says YOUR tractor has ti be correct. Just put it the way you like it and call it good

Thank you for the replies! Those do make good sense as well. I just really cant tell from some of the black and white pictures from manuals, ect. that show if IH had a specific way that the ornaments were installed.
Agreed! Run your GT your way, lol! :High5:/:pepsichug: |
It looks good to me, John! :beerchug:

They came from the factory with the top end pointed forward, so in your case, yours is backwards. All of the manuals/diagrams/original IH Pictures have them going with the top end forward.

On my 100 has the same ordainment and its facing forward.
