Cub 1862

I'm working on putting together an 1862. I had to buy all the plastic for the front because everything was stripped off of it when I bought it. I also bought a muffler and the front heat shroud for an 1862. The motor I'm using is my KT-17 out of my old 1710. I got the wiring done and was in the process of fitting up the plastic and it seems like the grill won't fit far enough back for the side panels to fit. The plastic is all from a 1641 and the grill hits the heat shield when I try to get it back far enough to put the sides on. Is all of the Cyclops plastic the same? Any ideas?

Thanks, Brad

The plastic is the same dimensionally between those two models. I'd guess your problem is the muffler heat shield. But that's a guess.

I have a muffler and box from a Cyclops. The box hits the grill shell. It seems like my motor is too far forward but on Partstree it shows the same motor plate for my old 1710 and an 1862. I have it mounted in the rear holes.

Did the drive shaft hook up as it should?

I had the same problem with my 1541 after I took the engine out to replace the rear seal. When I put it all back together the heat shroud was too far forward. I ended up loosening all the bolts that held the engine to the frame and the shroud to the engine and pushing them all as far back as possible then re-tightened everything. It helped, but I finally ended up cutting part of the shroud off to get the plastic back on. It is still one of the stranger things to happen with the my cyclops. It is no longer an issue since I put a Command engine in last year. The command heat shroud is not as big.

Yes, the driveshaft hooked up no problem.

Thanks, I'll try that
