Goofy idea for keeping decks clean...

So... I've been getting hyped up on the idea of tossing some new paint at one of my 50As before putting it into service. The problem I'm having is coming up with something to paint the underside with that will be durable, environmentally friendly as it comes off, and super easy to reapply with minimal prep work...

...then the flash of lunacy hit me... Why not get a brick of wax and melt it all over the underside of the deck?

10lbs of soy wax on Amazon is $23, shipped... Melts at 123 F (which is probably too hot for the spindle areas, but everything else should be OK).

So... What do you guys think? Am I as insane as I think I am? Seems like sealing the bottom of the deck in a layer of wax would protect the new paint and help grass peel right off. Or... It could fall out in one giant chunk someday when mowing. :bigthink:

Sounds like a waste of time.... Paint it with epoxy primer and paint. It'll last for a long, long time.

What is up with cleaning a deck, underneath!! :bigthink: I have been running some form of GT to mow with since 1980, and have NEVER even scraped grass clippings from under a deck!

I am just wondering what the benefit would be.

The only times i clean a deck( soap & brush ) is when i sharpen blades then spray paint let dry the. Spray down with pam ( cooking spray) after each mow i drive over to a hose & give a quick spray , nocks off 85 - 90 % of crap , and allows for more maintenance time on the mower ( wife says keeps me busy so she can get her work done) :bigthink:

I will, personally, be spraying bedliner under my Cadet's deck when I finally restore it.

Air compressor or leaf blower takes care of that, ( can't keep it to clean the wife will think it doesn't get used).:beerchug:
