Quietline engine tin
2 Attachment(s)
Question for anyone with a quietline series. Rebuilt the engine a K301 AQS and have a question about the placement of the metal tin covering on the cylinder head. Does it go under the flywheel shroud or over top. Seems to fit better over top but I just can't remember? Seems like it should go in side the shroud just like under the air box frame. Here are 2 pics if anyone has pics of this I would appreciate it the PO had a lot of it butched up so replaced 2 tins. Help?:bash2: sorry had to use the laptop phone wouldn't let me upload.

Its over the top on the 12hp I just pulled out of my 1250.

Thanks Mr. Goffena i was thinking last night, if you had to pull the head it would be a lot easier if it was on the outside? Thanks now maybe i can fire this thing up tonight. Had the crank turned and new rod. Thanks again you wouldn't have any pics of the engine just trying to locate everything back to original PO had a lot of butched stuff on here. Any pics would be appreciated. And does the " Koler 12hp cast iron" chrome sticker go on the air cleaner lid?

My tin is over the top on my 16. Also the sticker was on the tin your talking about that goes over the head. Did you repaint ur engine? If so what did you use

ok my sticker is on the air cleaner cover? I have seen them on the flywheel shroud too? I used Bill Hirsch gloss black engine enamel. I used it on a Pontiac engine and had really good results. So gave it a shot. I bought the high temp primer for all the steel parts and no primer on the cast steel and aluminum. Curious to see how it holds up. Sand blasted most of the parts. Just trying to get the girl back to original shape. Didn't do the tractor body yet but did do the cradle mod. I will post some pics later today. Seems like stickers varied thats what i was looking for and how the coil was mounted? Seems like there is an extra hole.

I should have taken more pics while I was tearing mine apart. I snapped a couple but not many.

Ok according to that pic it is showing the head cover under the coil tin and under the shroud? Now i'm really beginning to wonder? LOL I know it has to go under the air box no brainer there. So maybe it goes under everything? Just seems to fit better on the outside of the shroud. By the time i'm done going to have to do some touch up from changing it around. Maybe the head tin is misshaped, lost at this point? LOL Not that big a deal just like to have it right? :Explode:

Thanks machinehead thats a good pic. ok wondered about the bend on the end of the coil tin. That makes sense now. He had both side plates inside the shroud thats why it did go. Thank you very much! Here is the billet cover installed on the breather. I posted in another thread too. Thanks guys for the help she will be back together the right way now.:beerchug:Maybe this winter I can to the tractor paint and decals? LOL Never ends.
