Cool deal! Enjoy your veggies!

We have had TONS of lettuce and spinach.

After picking the peas, we mulched the recently planted cukes with the vines.

(Those are big box hardware store shelving unit takeouts for the cukes to climb on)

We expect to have 'maters in a week or two.

Oh, yea, LOTS of potatoes, berries, and cherries!! :biggrin2:

Looks great! I think some of my garlic is ready, but otherwise still waiting. The burlap is protecting more lima bean seeds from the crows, apparently I can't count on the cat!

CAT!! We got three feral ones, they do nothing with crows.

We had the garden hose in the cherry tree (fake snake) for the last week.

Today the crows realized the "snake" was fake and started to clean out the tree.

That is OK, we got all that we know what to do with! :biggrin2:

The tree is 25' tall, I flipped the hose "cowboy lasso" style right over the top.

No ladder needed, it worked great!

Maybe some Dollar General rubber snakes would help your beans?

One year we kept loosing the corn, the seeds were dug up. I put some peanut butter loaded mouse traps in the garden, it was mice!!

That was before we got cats!

LOL, tell me there is pictures or video of "cowboy Cad" :biggrin2:

The burlap seems to work, limas are breaking the surface. I've lost corn and bean seeds to birds. I mulch my garden with grass clippings to keep weeds down and moisture in, and last time my seeds didn't come up I did some investigating. I dug around and found the clippings pushed into the ground at intervals where I had put seed in...perfect beak shape tufts of grass in the dirt. I have hung cd's on fishing line and the spinning reflection keeps them away but takes a while to set up and tear down. Its much easier to lay down the burlap with a few stakes.

The rubber snakes would be fun, see how long it takes my wife to find them. haha

plastic

I like that idea of using black plactic. I have got weeds alllover the place!!!

fpatd 06-30-2013 04:58 PM

That is not plastic, it's weed barrier fabric or landscapers fabric .
