1810 converting to 1811 problem

Hi guys,

I've been a reader of the forums for a while and this is my first post.

I have an 1810 that runs great and never had issues with it. Recently I picked up a 782 for 200 bucks that had a broken rod. It came with a set of wheel weights and a cat 0 3 pt so i took a chance.. Pulled the motor and the head, case were both bad and had some scoring on the crank so i figured WTH...i'll just put the hydraulics on the 1810 and go from there.

I did my research and my everything would swap right over as my 1810 had a ported tranny. got the job all done and put back together, but now the hyd lift won't work at all. I can't seem to move the handle whatsoever. it doesn't appear to be bound at all. I cracked the hydraulic lines just to make sure i had hytran going thru them and i did.

My questions are:

Did I overlook anything in the swap?...is there a valve or something on the hydro that i am missing?

Any help in this would be greatly appreciated.

First off, :Welcome2:

An 1810 with manual lift doesn't have a ported trans..... I'm sure.....where did you plumb in at? :bigthink:

Try moving the handle with the motor off. If it will move, I know what you did.

not sure if i could post all those in a single post, but i know you guys like pictures....i hope this helps

Ok..... you got me. That definitely looks like a ported pump. 1710 were not, and by part #'s the 1810 and 1811 front part of the pump where the ports are, are different....... So, I'm not sure why it was a ported pump but it is.

Anywho. Can you move the lever with the tractor off? If no, then either the spool valve is stuck or the linkage is.

Thanks for the reply.

No I cannot move it with the engine off either. The linkage doesn't appear stuck as i can see the piston into the spool valve move a little just not much maybe an 1/4" or so. It seems like i have plenty of room for movement to the down postion, only it won't move.

Spool valve being stuck may be the culprit. Is there a way to free them up?

J-Mech 07-01-2013 07:13 PM

Well..... you might be able to free it up... but it may tear up. Take the valve back off, take everything off of it you can and set it in a pan of WD-40, or Marvel Mystery Oil and let it soak. Then take a rubber mallet and try to move it back and forth. I can't remember how the detent comes off at the bottom, and the tractor I would go look at isn't near me, but you need to take the detent apart too, that may be where it's stuck. That's about all you can do.... Good luck!
