I found a 108,i have heard it run, runs good...no smoke...comes with a 42 deck in decent shape.....the guy just put brand new tri-ribs on front and 10.50 super lugs on rear....tractor has never been out of barn since he put new tires on it...what do you think is a fair price for it....he is asking 400 for it

Looks decent. Probably worth it, but if you hand him $300 cash he may take it! :biggrin2.gif:

$400 is probably a fair price with the new tires and an engine running good. I tend to agree with CBH; haggle all you can. The owner may have no interest in cubs and simply not care about keeping it.
Just my .02 yet again. |
If they're carlisle's, then he's got $300 just in the tires.....and the 42" deck is worth an easy $100.
You're getting the tractor for free at $400. |
Honestly, the cub is worth whatever you are willing to give for it. I always try to treat others fairly in my dealings and let my conscious be my guide. Case in point, 3 weeks ago I found a 73 with round fenders on it. The guy was asking $100 for it and there was no rust on it. I told him that I would feel better about the deal if I gave him $125 for it. He agreed and we both walked away from the deal feeling alright about it. If those tires are new and the tractor looks to be in good shape, runs good and all, then I'm sure that you will give him a fair price for it. Best wishes!!!

BUY IT!!!! Looks too good to pass up!!! I don't try to cheap out on people, just think how you would fell if you were selling it. I follow this rule. Do onto others as you would have them do on to you.. I know I am living on borrowed time, it makes you have a different perspective on life. Thanks ole 147 |

www.tiresunlimited.com has Carlisle Tru-Power 10.50s at $88.73 each, and 400/480 - 8 tri-ribs were selling for $40/pair at Red Power this year, and can be had for a similar price on several websites. That's just under $220 for tires, leaving a $180 108, and I'm sorry to say that tractor probably isn't worth $180, seeing as the nosepiece has been drilled, the blockoff plate is gone, and it's been repainted. dieseldog558- I had a 108, and for whatever reason, it seems to have been the most undesirable Cub Cadet ever made...it ran great, mowed great, and looked decent, but I had a heck of a time selling it....I wound up selling it very cheap. Just a couple things to keep in mind. You're basically buying the tires if you buy it... BTW I could be mistaken but those look too narrow to be 10.50s...I bet they're 8.50's, which are cheaper yet. |

That's interesting you say that about the 108 being undesirable. I got one last summer and really like it. It had the usual things needing attention but is a sound tractor. It came with a 44" deck and cuts real well. Do you think it is because of the 10 horsepower vs 12? Other than that it's just like the rest of the wide frames. I wonder how popular the 109 was compared to the 108. |
Hey guys...thanks for all of your inputs on this....yeah I am building this 1200 right now and I still have to buy tri-ribs and ags for it, plus a seat. I saw this one that had all of that and thought by the time I bought all of those separate verses buying this tractor, I would only have about 80 dollars in it....tires $220 and seat $100. The only down fall is, it is about 3 1/2 hrs away...so I don't know now...Matt. I am trying to find out about those rear ags....yeah i definitely want 10.50's....I will let you guys know...again..thanks everyone

Ya know, I like and respect everyone on this site (to a degree). So, does everything have to be a competition, or an argument???
A 108, is the same tractor as a 128 except has 10hp. same as 109 except gear drive same as 129 except gear drive and 10 hp. and is the same thing as the following NF tractors same as 122, (dif grill, diff engine) same as 104, and 106, except the wide frame version. same as 124 except diff grill shell And so on, and so forth.... It's a 10hp, WF cub with a gear drive and clutch. There are no "BAD" ones. only diff, is what HP it comes with, and whether it's a gear drive or Hydro. SHEEZE!!! |
