Haban 60" needs a little help

Let me start by say hello and great site. Sites with resources like this are priceless.

So between my father, brother and I we currently keep gas in 6 cadets, from a stock 73, ag duelly 73, 1864, 2185, 2205 and my latest pride and joy(maybe) my first sgt 1988 2072 w/ a 60" Haban.

2072 has 622 hrs showing, runs great and i would say better than average condition. The Haban a little worse off, the previous owner did rebuild the front raised "discharge" channel and did it right. 2 issues i have right now the middle blade mows high, which could be spacers, worn or bent spindles/mount, pretty sure I can get though that with a straight edge and some time, real issue is the deck is missing all the internal shrouds/baffles that aid in the discharging clippings. I could not find anything in terms of replacement parts to that level. So my plan is to rebuild the internals. I did see photos other have posted and i am hoping i can find where the old parts once were but i was hoping find someone who could give me a clearance dimension from the blade tip to there baffles? Looks like about 3/8". Also i haven't pulled the deck yet so this is all i know to be wrong with unit,

Thanks in advance for any help and i will take some pictures and post case others want to tackle something like this,

I never took pics of under my Haban, but, here is a pic of my 72" "other color" deck that cuts grass like a multi-blade razor!! :bigthink:

You can see the clearance is about 3/8"

A few dents and bangs, but, it cuts great.

How about that extra rear roller in the center that they snuck in!

I never knew it was there until I decided to clean-up the deck.

Hope these help. In two of the pics you will notice that the PO had a blade on upside down, he said it didn't cut very well. No kidding?:biggrin2:

Well a few more hours in than i thought but i got what i wanted from it, the PO did a great job on discharge channel but i wanted a it a little better so i spent some time in the two front corners and replaced left panel while i was in it (the white primer) pained it up with some black enamel, used some 1/8" flat stock i had in the corner and used a empty metal cylinder about the size fo a pail to get my bends, did about half the fitting with cut off wheel on angle grinder and got my hands on a sweet little plasma cutter, a couple of clamps, mig welder and fine adjustment tool (hammer) got the job done. Also i made a middle support out of channel, seemed like it wanted something there more to follow

Oh yeah, I have been following your work on the supers, The front casters are in usable condition, the rear wheels could use stand new parts, think i just going to run the rest of the season and do some of your recommended maintenance/upgrades over the winter, you know just to give my wife some time alone with the kid, Hydro vent, axle seals, filter, etc.
