Frank 'n Tractor

Starting a new project. Have two parts tractors sitting here. A 1450 frame and rear end, and a 147 w/o engine. Also have my K241 out of my 108 that has come back from the shop completely rebuilt (bored .010 over).

Can a complete tractor emerge? First step it to get axles in the 1450 so I can fill with Hytran, put a new filter on and see how/if the hydro works.

A 1450 with a 10 hp = 1050?

I thought about just putting the engine in the 147, but the electric lift doesn't work. And I like the WFs much better.

Let me know if you see any issues with this plan.

1. I have the axle from the 1450, can put that on.
2. will need to move the steering column from the 147 to the 1650. Will the difference in length cause interference with the hydro lever?
3. There is a greenish waxy substance on the differential gears in the 1450. How to best remove this? Or not to worry about it?
4. moving fenders from the 147 to the 1450--other than cutting openings for the wiring to the battery, any other issues?
5. PTO is a problem. Will either need to put an electric PTO on it or fore-go the PTO altogether. Will a PTO from any other QL fit my K241?

Additional parts I will need (I think)
--fuel tank supports for the 1450 (have a tank)
--hood (have grill and hood nose)
--iso mount rails (since it's just a 10hp might solid mount).
--replace three pin driver with flex joint set up.
--need a drive shaft. use the 147's?

Might just put a snow blade on this tractor and leave it for that duty.

What have I missed?

-Frank

I have a 1650 turned into a 1050 last November. My brother plowed snow with it last winter. I've mowed with it all summer. It's turned into my go to Cub Cadet for when I need to move something with my trailer or any other little task.

I'll be watching your thread too.

I believe the 147 fenders won't fit the 1450 frame without modifications. The "tool box" under the seat is too deep. Also,I believe that an electric pto will not work on your K241 (unless it is an AQS) You will probably find that there are no threaded holes to bolt it to.

OK, this is the kind of info I need. I appreciate your help. The k241 came out of my 108 so it's not an AQS. I have another fender from a 108 that's a little beat up, but with some minor repairs I can use that.

I've got to put some hytran in this 1450 and check out the hydro and rear end. I don't know what condition it's in. If it works OK, then I'll continue with the build. If it isn't working, then I might just put the 10hp in the 147 and try to fix the electric lift.

So I am holding off on selling any parts until I can confirm that the 1450's hydro is working.
