Homemade hydraulic lift

All of the parts finally arrived for me to start my home made hydraulic lift project. I am using a jeep hy lo hydraulic pump. This setup has the advantage of having the pump, reservoir, and valve all in one unit. The disadvantage to this is that I am limited to where I can locate the pump. I am probably going to run it off of the same pulley that the factory pump is run off. The problem is the jeep pump rotates the wrong way so the reservoir sticks off towards the front of the tractor, which means the pump must be mounted way off to the side to clear the generator or the air cleaner depending on which side I want to mount it. My question is this: is there a way to get the pump to rotate the other direction? I have heard mention of twisting the belt to get the rotation reversed, but Im not sure how well this works or the disadvantages. Has anyone seen this type of setup before, and if so, how did it work?

Twisting the belt will limit it's life, as it will be rubbing on either itself, or a roller inbetween.
But, with this situation, the distance is so short, I don't think it will work.
You'll have to reverse the pump, that's all.
But then you'll have to reposition the ram....But, you can just elevate the pump so it rides directly above the ram.

Thanks, I guess I will just have to mount it as close as possible to make it work.

any way to mount the hydraulic pump inside the driveshaft tunnel and run a pully off the drive line?? just an idea if its a hydro

unfortunately there isnt room for that. The tank is too big. I also thought of putting it under the hood and running off a longer belt from the s/g and big pulley, but there isnt room for that either. I figure the worst case scenario is that it just sticks a little farther out than I would like. It wont be in the way of anything.
