A new "Swede" in the stable
Picked up a Husqvarna LGT 2554 at a sale this past weekend. Really clean and looks to be in great shape. Starts scary fast (have to get off the key quickly) and runs good. Has the 54" deck and 502 hours on the clock. It also had a new battery, Husqvarna padded seat cover, a sun shade, a front dozer blade, tire chains and a rear weight. Bonus... had a completely full tank of gas in it. All for high three figures. Should speed up the mowing time and give me more time to work on the Cub 86!

Congrats on the new ride!

Finally got some seat time. Ask the wife why we waited so long to get a mower with a deck this big (54"). Got a dirty look, as you might expect. Knocked a good half hour or more off my mowing time, even she noticed that. Been reviewing prices on these models on CL, I knew it was a good deal but most of them, without the blade and sun shade, are about twice the price. Feel I have some room to put some more money in it if something goes wrong. It ran good, even with the cheap Kohler Courage, and the hydro stayed strong, even after an hour or so of running. I'm pleased with it so far.

Winter update...
I put the snow blade on anticipating getting some use this year, but only really used it once so far. Adjusted the skids so the blade has about 3/4 inch clearance due to the gravel drive and haven't pushed any gravel, so that is about the right height. Performed pretty well but the hydro is very slow in reverse, I guess due to the cold and normal wear. Raising and lowering the blade by hand gets tiresome but being able to change the blade angle from the drivers seat is handy. My drive is long, about 2/10 of a mile so don't have to raise it too often. It had great traction with my weight and the rear weight (about 50 lbs or so) and chains. Even on the coldest day it fires right up so can't hate on the engine.

Good luck with it. From what I have been told they don't have the strongest trans in the world. I sold this 147 to a guy that only had about 100 hours on his when the trans crapped. Hope you have better luck with yours.

He says he'd rather use his 72 and 38" deck than the Husky. |
Good luck with the Husky!
