QA36A broke
I was out working on some improvements to my snow blower and not realizing
that it was froze up from use a few days ago I engaged the pto and the drive shaft started to spin but not the impeller, I took the shield off and I found the trouble was either a sheared bolt, shear pin or roll pin, Thats the question, I don't know what is supposed to go thru the pully and shaft , There was nothing left in the hole so at first I thought a 1/4 in bolt but it is so close to the sprocket that you can not start or tighten a nut but if it was a roll pin I would have thought a part of it would be left in the shaft hole and I don't know what would have held a shear pin in, Thanks in advance for any help Skip |
I have had my pin shear many times I found a tension pin will work but the best thing I've found is a solid tapered pin found at most implement shops Try ccspecialties.org for hard to find parts I have the same attachment

coiled pin
It might be noted,
that the coiled pin or weaker roll pin, also works as a shear pin (SAFETY) when the auger hits a rock or obstruction, preventing the rest of the driveline from destruction----like the no longer available GEARS. there is no other "safety" built into the blower drive, other than the PTO clutch slippage. |
